E.R. is the first episode in the third season of NYPD Blue. It aired on October 24, in 1995.

Summary[]

Martinez is shot in the back during a scuffle and the doctor's report is possible that he may be paralyzed for life. But Martinez's assailant, a government witness in a relocation program, will probably go free and Simone contacts reporter Benita Alden, his former girlfriend, to help put pressure on the D.A. to prosecute their protected witness. Meanwhile, Russell, on the road to recovery from her alcoholism, wants Sipowicz to let Simone know she's doing okay but she is on the brink of falling off the wagon. Donna expresses to Simone that she has feelings for him, and Sylvia tells Sipowicz that she may be pregnant.

  • James runs out of the bar into the alley and you see he is shot on the right side of his stomach. The shot cuts away to the perp, then back to James diving behind a dumpster where again you see he is shot on the right side of his stomach. The shot cuts away and then back to James behind the dumpster where he is now shown shot on his left side, where the wound remains for the rest of the episode.
